PGT Introduces Energy Efficient Vinyl Window Line for Replacement and New Construction Markets

N. VENICE, FLA. – January 4, 2010 – PGT, Inc. (NASDAQ: PGTI) today announced the launch of its newest line of vinyl windows: the 2200 Series. Designed for replacement, remodeling and new construction projects, the 2200 Series features energy efficient windows that qualify for federal tax credits, come with ENERGY STAR® ratings, and offer unsurpassed wood-like beauty. The series will be available for order January 4, 2010.

“The 2200 Series meets the demand for customers looking for clean, sleek, aesthetically pleasing windows with the strength and energy efficiency of vinyl,” said Debbie LaPinska, PGT Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The complete 2200 Series vinyl line includes single hung, double hung, horizontal roller, picture/fixed lite architectural and combination windows, and feature a front flange on all products. PGT 2200 Series windows deliver the following standard features: double-strength insulating glass, high-performance Low-E glass (argon gas optional), and Super Spacer® NXT technology. As a proud partner of the US Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR® program, all standard 2200 Series products are ENERGY STAR compliant.

Super Spacer, the insulating, structural foam spacer system, offers many benefits. It keeps the glass edge temperature up to 16.6 degrees warmer than other systems in cold weather tests. It also keeps inside air cooler on hot summer days. Super Spacer outperforms metal spacers by virtually eliminating condensation, which means less mold, resulting in a healthier home environment. This spacer system also delivers up to 18 percent less sound transmission when compared to other systems.

The product line is backed by one of the best warranties in the industry – a lifetime warranty on the frame, insulating glass components and hardware. Strength and high design pressure ratings are inherent in PGT’s product design, with many 2200 Series products achieving up to a DP 50 rating standard. Products are available in white or beige and meet Florida Building Code, AAMA, NFRC, and ENERGY STAR certifications.

2200 Series windows purchased with a U-Factor of 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 qualify for the $1500 federal tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
