Pre-Assembled Windows and Doors Improve Quality; Save Installer Time and Resources
VENICE, Fla., August 25, 2008 – PGT Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of PGT, Inc. (NASDAQ: PGTI), announced today the introduction of three new impact-resistant door and window products for its Architectural Systems product line. Designed for commercial and residential high rise applications, these include the new Storefront 3500 Series, consisting of a commercial Storefront Entrance Door (ST3550) and a Storefront Window Wall System (WS3500). A Terrace Door (TER3050) is being added to the 3000 Series, which is ideal for condominium, apartment and hotel terraces. PGT is now accepting orders for these products.
This product introduction significantly expands PGT’s commercial portfolio, providing a more comprehensive solution for retail facilities, office buildings, hotels, condominiums, commercial strip centers, restaurants and healthcare facilities. These products are engineered to provide flexibility, and they can be used together in the same applications, as well as with PGT’s existing Architectural Systems products, which include picture, single hung and horizontal roller windows, and sliding glass doors.
The 3500 Storefront Series will save installation time and resources because it is a factory fabricated, pre-glazed system, enabling installers to reduce field labor by spending less time glazing units at the job site. This accommodates a faster closing of the building envelope and allows for other construction processes to move forward, thus streamlining timelines and reducing costs. In addition, it is ideal for impact-resistant product glazing to be done in a controlled environment, free of debris, contaminants and bad weather commonly found on job sites.

The products are customizable relating to configurations, hardware and sizes within the tested range. They come in three standard colors – white kynar, bronze kynar, and clear anodized, along with a wide range of custom colors. All configurations have passed the Miami-Dade Building Code testing and have NOA test reports available.

- Framing system is factory fabricated, assembled and glazed
- Screw splined corner construction provides unparalleled strength in the horizontal and vertical assembly, as well as easy installation.
- Narrow sightlines – 1.75” x 5” – increases visibility without compromising structural integrity
- High design pressure – +/-130 psf – provides security, safety and performance in high velocity hurricane zones
- External wet seal eliminates the worry of uncontrolled water infiltration. Unlike internally drained systems, the water does not have an opening to enter.
Storefront Entrance Door – ST3550
- Outswing or Inswing configurations, with optional transoms and sidelites.
- Tested for sizes up to 3.5 feet wide x 9 feet tall for a single door, or 7 feet wide x 9 feet tall for double doors.
- High performance door closer is ideal for large doors and doors that are used in coastal or high wind areas. It is offered in exposed or concealed options.
- Meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards relating to door opening width, closer, opening force, handles, locks and low threshold for accessibility.
- High design pressure – +/-100 psf – provides security, safety and performance in high velocity hurricane zones
- Strengthened and secured corner construction, stiles and rails.
Terrace Door – TER3050
- Tested for sizes up to 3.5 feet wide x 9 feet tall for a single door
- High performance door closer is ideal for large doors and doors that are used in coastal or high wind areas. It is offered in exposed or concealed options.
- High design pressure – +/-100 psf (Large Missile), +/-120 (Small Missile) – provides security, safety and performance in high velocity hurricane zones
