PGT® Announces New Frame Colors and Shapes to Meet the Needs of Custom Homes

VENICE, Fla., Oct. 7, 2008 – PGT Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of PGT, Inc. (NASDAQ: PGTI), is now offering Arizona Beige, Pebble Khaki and Venetian Bronze frame colors on its WinGuard® Aluminum and non-impact Aluminum series 780 and 680 sliding glass doors. These doors are ideal for custom and semi-custom homes, where opening up a home to spectacular views is a priority. Builders will welcome the opportunity to create a signature look for their homes with the sliding glass door’s corner meet option, which is not widely available in the industry.

PGT has also introduced WinGuard Fixed Lite Architectural windows with concave curves, going beyond the industry norm of convex curves. By combining these types of windows, PGT offers trade professionals the flexibility to create distinctive shapes for custom and semi-custom homes. WinGuard Architectural Shaped windows are manufactured for remodeling and new construction. These new shapes can be manufactured up to 96” x 48” or 32 square feet, and still deliver the hurricane protection WinGuard windows have been delivering for over ten years.

“We’re proud to offer these new colors and shapes to meet the needs of discerning homeowners,” said Debbie LaPinska, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Our new color options match popular clad and vinyl windows and our corner meet door option combined with our new architectural shapes, help make a truly spectacular custom home.”

PGT WINGUARD CORNER MEET SLIDING GLASS DOOR Made with strong, weather-resistant aluminum frames, this uniquely configured sliding glass door is available with two, three or four tracks. WinGuard Sliding Glass Door Series 780 has a French door look including an optional 9” bottom rail and is also available as a bypass or pocket door. It comes standard with corrosion-resistant hardware and fasteners, and fully weatherstripped construction. Maximum reinforced corner door panel size is 4’ x 10’. Choose from extended color or finish options: Arizona Beige, Pebble Khaki, Venetian Bronze, White, Bronze or ETERNA Finish. The corner meet option is also available on PGT Series 680 aluminum sliding glass doors.

THE WINGUARD® LINE WinGuard windows and doors combine heavy-duty aluminum or vinyl frames with impactresistant laminated glass. A special silicone glazing process helps keep the glass from breaking away from the frame. Laminated glass is constructed by bonding a tough polyvinylbutyral (PVB) interlayer between two pieces of glass under heat and pressure. Once sealed, the glass "sandwich" behaves as a single unit and is transparent, like ordinary glass.

Although wind-borne debris may crack the glass on impact, the interlayer keeps the overall window intact, preventing destructive winds and rain from entering the home.

PGT WinGuard was the first complete line of aluminum impact-resistant windows and doors to be approved by Miami-Dade Building Product Control – which enforces the strictest codes in the United States for wind-borne debris and wind loading. PGT also helped develop these very strict testing protocols.
